University Health Service (UHS)
The purpose of the University Health Service (UHS) Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is to provide a student perspective to the Director of UHS in order to advance the quality of health care and services provided.
The SHAC Group Will
- Serve as an advisory group to provide input on issues concerning student health, such as accessibility, on-call hours, range of services, sensitivity to issues of culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity, student fees, quality, and general satisfaction.
- Serve to make suggestions for enhancements to services and new program initiatives based on student input (which may include e-mail, forums, town hall meetings) regarding their wants and needs.
- iscuss and recommend target issues for periodic UHS survey questionnaires to users.
Hearing From Students
The SHAC group will include graduate and undergraduate students. Students can express interest through the Michigan Student Assembly, Rackham Student Government or by contacting the UHS Director of Health Promotion and Community Relations at 734-763-1320. Students will participate in an interview prior to membership.
Organization
The SHAC group will be co-chaired by the UHS Director or his/her designee and one or two student members.
The meetings will be held bimonthly during the academic year beginning in September and ending in April (with the exception of December). Special meetings may be called at the request of the UHS Director or members of the Council.
Evaluation
An overall evaluation of SHAC occurs at the end of the school year.
